Bluebell Flowers
Bluebell flowers are spring flowers which are botanically classified as Hyacinthoides non-scripta and feature bell-shaped blue, violet and white flowers which are grown for ornamental purposes. Often confused with the bellflowers, they are different plants belonging to the Aparagaceae and Campanula families, respectively.
During the Victorian times, the meaning of the bluebell flowers was linked to the ideal of humility and grace. Apart from being ornamental, the bluebells are also used for medicinal purposes, typically as a styptic, a substance that stops bleeding, and also as a remedy for dandruff and skin burns and cancer, which needs further medical research.
