Bluets Flowers

Scientifically known as Houstonia caerulea, the bluets are a perennial wildflower from the Rubiaceae family and feature pale-blue and white flowers that grow up to 6 inches tall and are ideal as a ground cover.

Also known as Quaker ladies, these small flowers grow in partial to full shade under large trees. Also pollinated by beneficial insects and birds, bluets prefer organic and moist soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5. Associated with the idea of innocence, the star-shaped flowers look elegant in a rock garden, as they are low-maintenance with deer and rabbit resistance.
