Oxalis Plant
Oxalis, commonly known as Sleeping Beauty, belongs to the botanical family Oxalidaceae and the genus Oxalis. These annual and perennial plants are native to North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. The plant grows best in dappled sunlight in loamy soil with good drainage. The flowers are funnel or tubular-shaped with 4-5 petals.
The leaves, flowers, and fruits of Oxalis are edible. The plant has wildlife value because ot provides habitat and food to small mammals, birds, beetles, and caterpillars. The juice of the plant is used in medicine to treat piles, scurvy, and anemia.
