Baroque Garden

The construction of Baroque gardens started during the 17th century and was inspired by contemporary French and Dutch styles. These gardens are created with symmetry and an attempt to illustrate the superiority of mankind over nature. Garden of Versailles is one of the finest examples of a Baroque garden; it was designed during the 17th century for Louis XIV.
Baroque gardens are in a geometric pattern, divided into alleys, and have fountains. These gardens are expensive to construct and maintain. They required a large number of gardeners and an intricate irrigation system.
