Betony Flowers

Part of the Lamiaceae, betony is botanically known as Betonica officinalis and also referred to as wood betony. These herbaceous flowers are perfect to be planted in grasslands and meadows in partially shaded locations with moderate watering, as they are drought-tolerant once established and overwatering can lead to root rot.

The purple tubular flowers bloom in early summer and are considered completely safe for consumption and were also used historically for medicinal purposes like treating headaches and anxiety. Lastly, the meaning of these flowers is linked to the idea of protection and healing.
