Broom(Prickly) Flowers
Also referred to as the spiny broom due to its thorny stems, the prickly broom is a member of the pea family. It is a deciduous shrub that grows bright yellow, pea-like flowers, which turn green after pollination, paired with bright green leaves, which are perfect for adding colour and texture to the landscape.
The best time to plant them is in early spring when the danger of frost has passed, in full sun to partial shade with minimal care. Although proper maintenance is significant, as they are toxic in nature and can be invasive depending on the area of planting.
