Cactus Plant
Cactus (cacti) belongs to the botanical family Cactaceae. These xeromorphic succulents are native to southern Canada and South America. These plants have a thick impermeable cuticle suitable for a dry environment. Cactus perform photosynthesis through stems, as leaves are mostly absent. The root is fibrous, and the fruit is a berry with many seeds.
Areoles, a highly reduced branch structure is present. These often grow as ornamental plants and attract birds, insects, and bats as pollinators. Cactus is also used as fuel in desert regions and for traditional medicines.
