Caladium (Elephant ear) belongs to the botanical family Araceae. These annual plants are native to Central and Northern South America. Caladium usually grows near the banks of rivers in the presence of indirect sunlight and high humidity. The leaves are heart-shaped in red, white, and green colors. 

These ornamental plants are often grown as houseplants due to their large arrowhead-shaped leaves. Caladium is considered poisonous because it is toxic to humans, cats, children, pets, and livestock. Consumption of this plant can cause pain around the mouth and burning of the lips.
