Crown Imperial Flowers
Fritillaria imperialis, commonly known as Crown Imperial, is a bulbous perennial that boasts a beautiful display of bright orange-red, pendant, bell-shaped flowers topped by a crown of small leaves and rising at the end of an upright stem bearing lance-shaped, glossy leaves. The flowers have a distinctive musk-like odor and contain large drops of nectar.
It grows up to 24-28 inches tall and blooming occurs in mid to late spring and lasts for 2-3 weeks. To grow it properly, plant in fall in a full sun or partial shade area with moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil for best results.
