Emerald Gaiety Wintercreeper is a part of the botanical family Celasteraceae and the genus Euonymus. These perennial woody plants are native to East Asia, China, Japan, and Korea. The plant grows best in full sunlight and well-drained soil with organic matter. The flowers are green-white in color with 5 petals and a cyme inflorescence.
The fruits are white and globoid capsules. Seeds are edible to birds and other wildlife but toxic if eaten in large quantities. Emerald Gaiety Wintercreeper is an invasive species mostly in North Carolina. The plant is an excellent ornamental groundcover.
