Ostrich Fern Plant

Ostrich Fern is a part of the botanical family Aspleniaceae and the genus Onoclea. These perennial plants are native to Eastern North America and Temperate Eurasia. The plant is up to 5 ft tall and grows best in dappled sunlight and clay or loamy soil. The vegetative fronds are plum-like, and fertile fronds grow during summer and are covered with white hairs.

These herbaceous plants are used to make medicine and are effective for skin wounds and sore throats. The fronds provide shelter for small mammals.
