Pepperomia rotundifolia, also known as Radiator plant, belongs to the botanical family Piperaceae (Pepper). These perennial plants are native to the tropical and subtropical areas of Central and South America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The plant grows best in dappled sunlight and well-drained loamy soil. Pepperomia can be propagated by leaf cutting and stem cutting.
These plants are succulent and store water in leaves. Pepperomias are commonly used as houseplants in North Carolina. They are used as decorative foliage, on desktops, home tables, and in hanging baskets.
