SwitchGrass plant

Switchgrass (Panic Grass) is a part of the botanical family Poaceae and the genus Panicum. These perennial plants are native to North America. The plant grows best in full sunlight and moist clay or sandy soil. The flowers are pink-purple with a branched panicle.

Panicum attracts pollinators such as small mammals and songbirds. It is also believed to be a source of ethanol production for fuel. Switch grass is widely used as pasture for livestock. Due to its extensive rhizome, it is also used to control erosion.
