Ramps Plant

Ramps are a herbaceous perennial plant of the genus Allium and the botanical family Amaryllidaceae. These ephemeral plants are native to the forests of eastern North America, Georgia, Quebec, and Minnesota. The plant grows best in dappled sunlight and soil high in organic matter. The white flowers are arranged in an umbel inflorescence and have 6 petals. The fruit is a black capsule.

Allium attracts a lot of pollinators such as bees and butterflies because of its nectar and has wildlife value. Ramps are a great replacement for onions and add flavor to the food.
